The Gombe Executive Council (SEC) has celebrated the recognition of the state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya as Governor of the Year by The Sun Newspaper as well as other awards earned by him and the state’s Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in recognition of his leadership and commitment to good governance in the state.

The awards garnered across diverse sectors including education, good governance, e-governance, Hajj performance, peace and security, and more, were presented to the Governor by his deputy, Dr. Manasah Daniel Jatau, at a brief ceremony shortly before the commencement of the SEC meeting on Wednesday at the Government House in Gombe.

The awards presented include The Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year 2023, The Telegraph Newspaper Governor of the Year (Education ), the Best Supporting Governor on Hajj Operations, and the Best State in E-governance and Geographic Information System in Nigeria, among others.

Thrilled by the recognition, the Governor expressed gratitude to the members of his team for their support and cooperation in implementing transformative policies and programs that foster good governance and propel the progress of Gombe State.

He said, “I am delighted to receive these awards this morning. Let me say that whenever I am honoured in this way, I don’t view it as an individual recognition, but rather a recognition of our collective efforts as members of my administration. I am grateful to each of you for your support and genuine dedication to realising our shared goals and fulfilling the mandate entrusted to us by the people of Gombe,” he said.

He further urged the team not to waver in their commitment to the progress and development of Gombe State, urging them to brace up as this term will be more challenging. He however assured them of his commitment to delivering even more for the people of Gombe State.

Commenting on the current state of the nation, Governor Yahaya remarked that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is cognisant of the prevailing economic challenges and the hardships faced by citizens.

He emphasized that Tinubu’s administration, in collaboration with the governors of all 36 states, is diligently working on genuine initiatives aimed at alleviating these hardships and improving the quality of life for the citizens.
