The Fadama III Additional Financing 2 (AF2) North East Food Security and Livelihood Emergency Support project is to spend N335 million for infrastructure in 67 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) host communities across Gombe State.
Fadama III Infrastructure Engineer, Malam Yahaya Mohammed, disclosed this to journalists in Gombe, on Wednesday.
Yahaya said N5 million would be spent in each community with some areas benefiting from more than one project depending on the type of project being requested for. He explained that some of the projects included roads, lock-up shops, culverts, boreholes, solar pumps, livestock shade, veterinary clinics, and earth dams among other things.
He said the decision to embark on infrastructure projects was informed by the influx of IDPs into the host communities.
“This is because the population of the communities increased and the facilities in the communities have been overstretched hence the need for addition,” he explained.
Yahaya said they were in Gombe State to check the level of implementation of community action plan by Gombe Fadama III office, expressing delight with the situation met.
He, however, urged the IDPs and host communities to utilise the means of livelihood earlier given to them.
He emphasised on the need for record keeping of the projected executed so far, for the purpose of accountability when the need comes.
Daily Sun recalls that a Fadama III AF project has recently distributed farming inputs and food assistance to over 2000 IDPs and host communities across the state.
