An aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency seat, Alfred John Attajiri, has rejected the outcome of the party’s House of Representatives primary election, alleging that results were announced without any actual voting exercise across the constituency.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Attajiri described the situation as an “invisible election,” insisting that no legitimate primary election was conducted in Balanga and Billiri before the declaration of results.
He alleged that the announcement, reportedly made by former Gombe State Commissioner, Mohammed Sa’idu Fawu, was based on a process that never took place, describing it as a “direct assault on democracy.”
According to him, there is compelling evidence, including video footage, photographs, eyewitness testimonies and field reports, indicating that party members and delegates were never engaged in any formal voting process.
“It is deeply disturbing that results were announced for a process that was never conducted,” he said, warning that such actions could erode trust in the APC’s internal democratic structure.
Attajiri further argued that allowing the situation to stand unchallenged would set a dangerous precedent capable of weakening confidence in future elections, both within the party and the broader democratic system.

He maintained that loyal party members across Balanga and Billiri are increasingly disillusioned, stressing that democracy must not be reduced to “pre-determined outcomes without a ballot.”
The aspirant appealed directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, to urgently intervene in the matter, restore credibility to the process, and ensure justice is served.
He cautioned against silence from party leadership, warning that it could embolden impunity and further alienate grassroots supporters.
Despite his grievances, Attajiri urged his supporters, youths and community members to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, emphasising that the struggle was for justice, not unrest.
Meanwhile, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commended the peaceful conduct of the APC direct primaries across Gombe State, describing the exercise as orderly and credible.
The governor reiterated his call for unity, stating that “there is no victor, no vanquished,” as party stakeholders move to consolidate ahead of the general elections.
The exercise was also monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and other observers.
