The newly elected Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, Mr Keftin Amuga, has declared that he was elected to lead a reform agenda anchored on what he described as a “ballot revolution” in the state.

Amuga, who emerged alongside Dr Ahmad Mohammad Gana as the State Secretary at the party’s just-concluded state congress, said the ADC is repositioning itself as a credible alternative to challenge the existing political order in the state.

“I’m here to lead a ballot revolution. With the collective resolve of our members and the guidance of our leaders, we will build a formidable structure capable of reclaiming Gombe through democratic means,” he said.

The congress, conducted across the state’s 114 wards, was supervised by a committee led by Mr Kassim Geidam, with party officials describing the process as transparent and reflective of grassroots participation.

Party sources attributed the ongoing restructuring drive to the influence of the former Minister of Transportation, Abdullahi Idris Umar, who is regarded as the party’s overall leader in Gombe State.

Under the new leadership, the ADC has outlined a strategic framework focused on expanding its grassroots base, strengthening internal governance, and deploying digital tools to drive membership growth across the 11 local government areas.

Amuga said the party would prioritise inclusivity by promoting greater participation of women and youths in its structures, while also advocating policies aimed at economic empowerment, particularly for rural communities.

On security, the chairman called for a more decisive approach to tackling banditry and kidnapping, aligning with the party’s national position for tougher responses to criminality.

The ADC also reaffirmed its allegiance to its national leadership under the former Senate President, David Mark, warning against any attempts to create factions within the party.

Political observers say the emergence of the new leadership signals a renewed push by the ADC to consolidate its presence in Gombe and position itself as a major contender in the state’s 2027 political contest.
