Chairman/Chief Consultant, Global Transportation Policy, Oluwasegun Musa, has called on the President Bola Tinubu administration to embark on holistic transportation policy to foster economic growth in the country.
Making the call, yesterday, during a press conference in Lagos at the maiden edition of The Global Transport Policy, Musa said trends and developments in recent times have shown the need for urgent conversation to foster economic growth in the Nigerian transport industry and therefore called for government’s participation on a holistic inter-model transportation system in the country.
He said: “Every state has potential and resources, we need to tap into it to bring out economical growth and encourage investors to come in. And for this to happen, there must be a continuous conversation; conversation that will be backed up with actions.”
This, is said, will foster economic growth in the transport industry.
The main annual roundtable and bilingual magazine launch will be holding on April 24 at Ikeja, with the theme: “Transport Infrastructure and Strategic Policy Intervention: Building Blocks for Economic Growth.”
The annual roundtable is keen on unveiling the critical components of the transport industry as an enabler for rapid growth, “countries that have developed today was a result of transportation,” he said.
He said being first of its kind in the country, it will be a Bilingual Magazine, (English and French), which covers anything that represent transportation.
According to him, President Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and five ministers will attend the magazine public launch slated for April 24, 2024.
He said the magazine will be published quarterly.
Musa further stated: “We must engage the state governors to come in through conversation and establish a platform for them,” while calling on the media, he said, “the media has important role to play to make this work as expected.”
Also, Alban Igwe said no country will perform credibly well without a good transportation, and advised the government to take transportation issues seriously. He called on the media never to underrate themselves, because of their potentiality.
“Our mission is clear: to amplify the conversation that with an excellent transport infrastructure blueprint, Nigeria shall, indeed, become a continental economic powerhouse because transport infrastructure serves as the lifeblood of our interconnected world, facilitating the movement of people, goods, and ideas across climes and nations. With efficient transportation networks, efficient trade, innovation, and social cohesion are guaranteed,” he said.
The Global Transport Policy has branches across Nigeria, especially, Port-Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos.
