There is no gainsaying that debonair socialite and media entrepreneur, Chief Bestman Nze-Jumbo is one Lagosian whose love for the centre of excellence is unrivalled. From his teens to his over half a century age, Bestman has breathed and impacted Lagos. And he’s not resting on his oars to see that the city continues to brim as a complete city of the super-rich, the rich, the average and the hoi polloi. As part of his love for the city of Lagos, the amiable socialite on Thursday 18 July played host to the maiden edition of an award event designed to celebrate the unsung heroes whose efforts have put Lagos on the global map.

Tagged ‘Eko Mi Awards’, the recognition ceremony debuted at the prestigious Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, honouring excellent and incredible Lagosians whose achievements drive the heartbeat of the city. From trailblazing politicians to grassroots heroes, innovative youth to cultural champions, the event shone a spotlight on those who have made Lagos State the vibrant and dynamic metropolis it is today. Among the honourees were Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who won the most coveted award of the night; Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi; Journalist Hangout (TVC) and Bukola Olopade of Lagos International Marathon among others. The highlight of the awards night was the decoration of the dancing LASTMA officer at Agidingbi, Mr. Adefolalu Timothy in appreciation of his effort in traffic management. He was also rewarded with a cash prize of N1.2million.

It was an unforgettable evening filled with inspiring stories, heartfelt recognition, and a touch of glamour. The audience were treated to thrilling performances by comedians like MC Stylo, Prince Phelar and Chi Young, alongside musical acts by the veteran Jojo Body beat and Fabs, while the honourees delivered heartfelt acceptance speeches that left many in the audience inspired.
