GATIC 2027 unveils plan to mobilise 5 million votes for Tinubu

By Doris Obinna

A pro-Tinubu group, the Global Alliance for Tinubu Campaign (GATIC 2027), has announced plans to mobilise five million votes nationwide in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the January 2027 presidential election.

The group, described as an umbrella body of diverse Nigerian professionals, technocrats and businessmen at home and in the diaspora, formally unveiled the initiative on Wednesday at its inaugural press conference in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General, GATIC 2027, Prince Bevis Igbinoba, said the organisation had structures across the 774 local government areas of the country and was committed to galvanising grassroots support for the President.

“We have committed ourselves to the task of mobilising five million Nigerian voters for President Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election,” Igbinoba declared.

According to him, the group was formed in response to what it described as the “unprecedented and landmark achievements” recorded by the President since assuming office on May 29, 2023. “It is with great joy, enthusiasm and a high sense of responsibility that I welcome you to this historic inaugural press conference of the Global Alliance for Tinubu Campaign.

“Today marks a watershed in our collective quest to advance democracy and good governance through the renewal of the popular mandate of President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.”

He described GATIC 2027 as “an association of illustrious, patriotic and successful Nigerians of diverse professional backgrounds from home and the diaspora,” adding that members had converged to formally declare their intention to lead the campaign for the President’s second term.

“We have watched closely and affirm the giant strides of the President in the last 33 months. We are witnesses to his bold, courageous and visionary policies aimed at rescuing Nigeria from economic doldrums and confronting inherited security and economic challenges headlong,” he stated.

Igbinoba said the administration inherited a struggling economy plagued by fuel subsidy payments and multiple foreign exchange rates but took decisive steps to reform the system.

“In his inaugural address, President Tinubu removed fuel subsidy and abolished multiple foreign exchange rates. Despite the initial shock waves, the gains of these bold initiatives are beginning to trickle down,” he added.

Highlighting what he termed milestones under the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Igbinoba listed increased crude oil production, improved revenue for states, the student loan scheme for indigent students, the provision of N1 trillion through the Bank of Industry to support farmers at single-digit interest rates, and major infrastructure projects including the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway and other legacy roads across the six geopolitical zones.

He also cited increased foreign direct investment inflows, a reduction in Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio, expansion of gas infrastructure, power sector reforms, promotion of MSMEs, youth employment initiatives and the push for local government autonomy.

“Between 2023 and 2024 alone, Nigeria secured over $3.5 billion in foreign direct investment, while portfolio investment inflow currently stands at over $13.35 billion.”

On fiscal management, he added: “Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio has reduced from 97 per cent in 2022 to less than 61 per cent in 2025. This indicates fiscal discipline under the Tinubu administration.”

While acknowledging persisting economic and security challenges, the DG maintained that the reforms required time to fully mature.

“We must admit that we are yet to cross the Rubicon. The challenges are enormous, but we cannot afford to truncate the current policy direction or abort the gains already recorded,” he said.

“It is against this backdrop that we formed GATIC 2027 to drum support for the re-election of President Tinubu, to enable him complete his rescue mission and national redemption.”

He stressed that the task ahead was “herculean but achievable” with the support of millions of Nigerians.

“This is not the time for regime change for the sake of change. A visionary and achievement-oriented government must be given ample opportunity to consolidate its gains,” Igbinoba stated.

He assured that the campaign organisation had seasoned grassroots mobilisers and a well-structured strategy to deliver on its five-million-vote target.

“Our campaign strategies are well laid out and will be unveiled and implemented in due course. We have committed ourselves to harnessing the vast networks of our members both in Nigeria and in the diaspora,” he said.

Calling on the media for support, he said: “Distinguished members of the press, we recognise your crucial role in fulfilling this objective. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that Nigeria reclaims her manifest destiny in the comity of nations.”
