Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review the cost of the Lagos- Calabar Coastal Highway, taking into consideration the present economic situation in the country.

He also urged the president to open the Seme border and complete the Lagos Badagry Expressway for the overall benefits of Nigeria and Nigerians.

Iba Adams made the twin-appeal on Friday at Ifako, Lagos, during the celebration of the grand finale of 2024 edition of Eledumare Festival.

The Yoruba generalissimo stated also that the coastal road would serve the commercial interests of the south spreading from Calabar to Cameron, adding that the budget for the project is too costly.

“I am appealing to the Presidency to review the cost of the project considering the present economic situation in the country now.

“For instance, during his eight -year administration, former President Muhammadu Buhari, started the construction of the rail and road from the North to Niger Republic. He told us that the rail project would serve the economic interest of Nigeria and Nigerians.

“On this note, I appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to open the Seme border and also complete the Lagos Badagry Express way for the overall benefits of Nigeria and Nigerians”.

Iba Adams described, Eledumare Festival as the mother of all festivals, insisting that the Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF) had been celebrating the festival for the past 12 years with various programmes running daily for 21 days across Lagos and Ogun states.

He also pointed out that this year’s programme had gulped over N50 million, adding that the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) under his leadership has done well in promoting the culture and tradition of Yoruba race.

While urging Yoruba Obas not to abandon the traditional beads, he emphasised that the beads are the traditional symbol of respect and humility.
