A private Hisbah organisation, officially identified as ‘Independent Hisbah Fisabilillah’ has been established in Kano State.

The organisation, which officially unveiled its recruitment application, is linked to the former governor of the state and immediate past national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The ceremony was superintended by the Director General, National Productivity Centre, Baffa Babba Dan Agundi and the former Commander of Kano State Hisbah Guards, Sheikh Harun Ibn Sina.

Speaking to journalists, Sheikh Sina clarified that the new independent Hisbah organisation was not a government agency, but a voluntary organisation established for religious and humanitarian services.

“This is not a government body. It is a voluntary organisation that we created purely for the sake of Allah. We are not in competition with the government’s Hisbah.”

He stressed that the new Independent Hisbah organisation was aimed at providing a new platform for 12,000 individuals, who were previously disengaged from the state-run Hisbah to provide for religious and humanitarian services.

Daily Sun recalled that the Kano State Government had been vehemently opposed to the establishment of the organisation in the state, accusing former Governor Ganduje of plotting to recruit 12,000 illegal Islamic police personnel.
