Iron Capital Asset Management has appointed Tonya Osato Lawani, a corporate strategist and governance expert, to its board as a Non-Executive Director, in a move the firm says will strengthen its governance framework and support long-term growth.
Lawani’s appointment was announced alongside three other new board members: Oswald Osaretin Guobadia, Olatunde Oyewole, and Titilola Aworanti-Ekugo, as part of a broader push by the asset management firm to deepen board expertise and improve service delivery to clients.
According to Iron Capital, Lawani brings strategic insight, independent oversight, and more than two decades of experience in leadership, board service, and business development to her new role.
The firm said her appointment underscores its commitment to accountability, disciplined execution, and strong governance in asset management.
Announcing the new appointments, Iron Capital Asset Management described governance as “the foundation” of its operations, stressing the value of expertise in regulation, technology, and enterprise.
The firm said its approach is anchored on “precision in oversight” and “certainty in execution,” blending African solutions with global expertise.
Lawani is the Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of Seal Group, a diversified Lagos-based conglomerate with operations spanning advertising, hospitality, retail, print media, marketing, manufacturing, and general merchandising across Nigeria and the wider African market.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and an MBA from the Metropolitan School of Business and Management in the United Kingdom.
She is also an alumna of the Lagos Business School’s Owner Manager Programme and has completed several executive leadership courses at Harvard University.
Lawani has previously presented a leadership paper to youth entrepreneurs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and continues to advocate for good governance in both the public and private sectors.
A Member of the Chartered Institute of Directors (M.CIoD), Lawani sits on the boards of several corporations, where she promotes transparency, responsible leadership, and sustainable business practices.
Her appointment to Iron Capital’s board follows her recent appointment as an Independent Non-Executive Director at NASCON Allied Industries Plc, a member of the Dangote Group.
Iron Capital said Lawani’s appointment reflects its continued commitment to building a board with diverse commercial insight and a strong governance ethic, in support of its goal of establishing a resilient, trusted, and high-performing asset management platform.
Iron Capital Asset Management provides disciplined investment solutions and long-term value for clients, positioning itself at the intersection of African market knowledge and global investment expertise, with an emphasis on governance, oversight, and execution.
Seal Group, the conglomerate Lawani leads as Managing Director and Group CEO, operates across advertising, hospitality, retail, print media, marketing, manufacturing, and general merchandising.
