‘Friends Indeed,’ which premiered on Sunday, February 1, at Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island, Lagos, is now playing in cinemas across the country.

Producer Sandra Bremaud stated that the film was inspired by the need to confront uncomfortable truths about friendships and to encourage discussions around loyalty, responsibility, and authenticity. She emphasised that the project aims to prompt self-reflection and personal accountability.

“I think it’s time we start talking about the risks involved in friendships. It’s time to showcase this on the big screen. Friendship needs to be revitalised to its original essence, but first, we need to examine how we act as friends,” she explained in an interview with Saturday Sun.

Bremaud also highlighted the importance of personal accountability. “People often discuss fake friendships, but who is the real fake friend? It starts with you. Instead of criticising, try to make changes that can foster improvement. That’s the underlying message of this film,” she added.

Director Richard Omos-Iboyi described the script as emotionally grounded and realistic, noting that it influenced his casting decisions. Cast member Venita Akpofure mentioned that the film promotes friendships built on integrity and collaboration.

“Friends Indeed” premiered in cinemas nationwide on February 6. The film stars Lilian Esoro, Venita Akpofure, Padita Agu, MC Lively, Ifeanyi Kalu, Akin Lewis, and Oma Iyasara, among others.

Celebrities who attended the premiere included Eucharia Anunobi, Susan Peters, Puffy Tee, and Yaw.
