Fresh uncertainty has hit the OK Movement, a political platform backing the presidential ambition of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, following the immediate resignation of its Director-General, Peter Ameh.

Ameh, who is also the National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), announced his resignation in a letter personally signed and made available in Abuja on Tuesday.

He attributed his decision to the need to concentrate on his campaign for the Kogi East Senatorial District, where he is contesting under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The resignation comes as the movement steps up mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election, raising fresh questions over its leadership and organisational structure.

In the letter titled, “Resignation as Director-General of the OK Movement,” Ameh said his resignation was effective immediately and expressed willingness to accept whoever Obi appoints as his successor.

He, however, reaffirmed his commitment to the political ideals of the movement and praised Obi for what he described as exemplary leadership, integrity and credibility.

“I hereby formally tender my resignation as Director-General of the OK Movement, effective immediately. I humbly accept any individual appointed by my leader to succeed me in this role,” he stated.

Ameh said his decision was aimed at enabling him to devote the time and energy required for his senatorial campaign.

“This decision will enable me to devote the necessary time and energy to my campaign for the Kogi East Senatorial District, where I am the candidate of the NDC,” he said.

He added: “I remain firmly committed to the ideals that united us and wish the OK Movement every success in its future endeavours.”

The OK Movement emerged as a platform for supporters associated with the Obi and Kwankwaso political blocs following moves to bring their political structures together behind a common presidential ticket for the 2027 election.

Ameh’s resignation is coming at a critical stage in the movement’s mobilisation, with political parties and emerging coalitions intensifying efforts to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
