Foundation celebrates 19 years of empowering persons with disabilities

The Kpakpando Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting persons with disabilities, is set to celebrate its 19th anniversary on October 30, 2024.

The event themed, ‘Disability inclusion in nation building,’ will feature a medical outreach, assistance for PWDs, scholarship awards, advocacy training and business trainings.

Founded in 2006 by Senator Osita Izunaso, the Kpakpando Foundation has empowered over 20,000 individuals with disabilities through various initiatives, including scholarship programs, vocational training, and medical outreach.

The foundation has partnered with organizations like  Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), National Directorate of Employment (NDE), and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to provide entrepreneurship and skills training to PWDs.

In recognition of its contributions, the Kpakpando Foundation has received several awards, including the President’s Volunteer Service Awards from the United States and the National Productivity Order of Merit Award from the Nigerian government.

The 19th-anniversary celebration promises to be a significant event, highlighting the foundation’s impact and its continued commitment to empowering persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
