The Oyo State capital, Ibadan, recently witnessed a landmark sporting and lifestyle moment as Folarin Laosun, Convener of the Oluyole Amateur Open and co-owner of the 350-acre eco-friendly Oluyole Golf & Country Estate with Kayode Adebayo, successfully hosted the 4th edition of the Oluyole Amateur Open 2025 at the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club.
The two-day tournament brought together the very best of Nigeria’s amateur golf scene, drawing players from across the country to compete in an atmosphere of intense competition, camaraderie, and celebration of the game.
Beyond the fairways, guests, supporters, and enthusiasts enjoyed the vibrant blend of sport, culture, and social networking that has become a hallmark of the Open.

After two days of thrilling play, Jimoh Sikiru, playing off handicap 3, emerged champion with a remarkable 149 gross score, etching his name into the growing legacy of the Open. Other standout performances across categories highlighted the depth of amateur golfing talent in Nigeria, with the event further strengthening Ibadan’s reputation as an emerging hub for golf.
Speaking after the event, Convener Folarin Laosun expressed deep gratitude to players, partners, and the city of Ibadan for embracing the vision of the Open. “The Oluyole Amateur Open is more than just golf — it’s about building community, nurturing young talent, and showcasing Ibadan as a destination for world-class sporting and lifestyle experiences.
