In a move aimed at tackling persistent barriers to quality learning in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, education technology firm ProjKonnect has launched Gemnex, an artificial intelligence-powered learning platform integrated with WhatsApp to provide students with easier access to personalised academic support.
The company said the platform is designed to improve access to learning resources for university, polytechnic and college students by enabling them to receive course-specific academic assistance through both a dedicated mobile application and WhatsApp, reducing dependence on expensive internet connectivity.
Founder of ProjKonnect, Paul Ojo, described Gemnex as the company’s response to longstanding challenges limiting students’ academic success.
According to him, the platform seeks to democratise access to quality educational resources by ensuring students can better understand complex courses while preparing for future career opportunities.
“Our goal is to make quality education more accessible. Nigerian students possess the intellectual capacity to excel, but many lack the academic support needed to master difficult courses and build confidence for life after graduation. Gemnex was developed to close that gap,” Ojo said.
He noted that the AI-driven platform delivers personalised learning experiences tailored to students’ academic needs, making learning more flexible and accessible regardless of location.

Speaking on the WhatsApp integration, ProjKonnect’s Partnership Manager, OnisabiHabeeb, said the feature was introduced to address the realities of Nigeria’s digital infrastructure, where unreliable internet service and the high cost of data continue to hinder learning.
He explained that the integration allows students to access academic guidance and ask course-related questions directly through WhatsApp, eliminating the need for constant access to high-bandwidth internet services.
“The idea is to ensure students do not have to choose between quality academic support and the cost of staying connected online. Through WhatsApp, they can receive learning support even under limited connectivity conditions,” Habeeb said.
ProjKonnect said the dual-channel approach reflects its commitment to expanding equitable access to technology-enabled education and supporting improved learning outcomes for tertiary students across Nigeria.
The company specialises in education technology solutions that leverage digital innovation and artificial intelligence to deliver personalised academic support for young Nigerians.Greetings Mr. Wale,
