Two children have been killed by fire that occurred at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The fire outbreak started at a tent at the Muna IDP camp on Tuesday morning and spread to about 100 tents in the camp located at the city outskirts.
The Muna IDP camp has been experiencing fire outbreaks and the Tuesday incident is the fourth in the series of fire disaster this year
Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Barkindo Saidu confirmed the incident to journalists. He said several tents were affected by the fire.
Earlier on Tuesday, Barkindo had in a chat with The Sun, blamed congestion in the camp as fueling incessant fire outbreak.
He said government was working out a dignified manner of de-congesting the vamp to prevent fire outbreaks.
The Muna IDP camp has a population of 18,000 households, approximately 110, 000 persons.
