The Adamawa State Government has cancelled all activities planned for the 2025/2026 Crossover Night at the Unity Flyover in Jimeta, Yola, following what it described as credible intelligence reports indicating potential security risks.

The decision affects events scheduled to hold between the night of Tuesday,December 31, 2025, and the early hours of Wednesday,  January 1,2026, at the popular Jimeta–Yola corridor, which traditionally attracts large crowds during crossover celebrations.

In a statement  on Tuesday, the state government said the cancellation was a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding lives and property, stressing that the protection of citizens remains its foremost priority.

“The government will continue to work closely with security agencies to ensure peace and stability across the state,” the statement said.

Residents, particularly those in Yola North and Yola South Local Government Areas, were advised to remain vigilant, avoid crowded locations, and promptly report any suspicious activities to relevant security agencies.

The government assured the public that further information would be provided as necessary.

The statement was signed by Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and dated 30 December 2025.
