Nigeria’s gaming industry is poised for a major technological transformation as the Enugu Gaming Conference (EGC) 2026 places financial technology at the centre of discussions shaping the sector’s future.

The conference, scheduled for July 29–30, 2026, in Enugu, is expected to bring together regulators, gaming operators, investors, and technology innovators to examine how fintech solutions are redefining payments, compliance, and customer experience in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving gaming market.

With the theme, “Unlocking Nigeria’s iGaming Tech Opportunity,” the event reflects the industry’s growing shift from dependence on foreign infrastructure to indigenous gaming technologies integrated with digital payment systems, wallets, and real-time transaction platforms.

Industry analysts say the increasing adoption of mobile betting and digital transactions has positioned fintech as a critical driver of growth, transparency, and operational efficiency within the sector.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Event Lead, Ejiofor Agada, said financial technology has become indispensable to the gaming ecosystem.

According to him, “Fintech is no longer a support function in gaming; it is now the engine that drives scale, trust, and expansion across markets. EGC 2026 will showcase how Nigerian-built solutions can support the entire gaming value chain, from payments to compliance.”

Experts note that the integration of payment technologies into gaming platforms is becoming increasingly important, particularly in areas such as instant deposits and withdrawals, identity verification, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance.

Stakeholders believe fintech-driven compliance tools focused on taxation, data protection, and licensing will play a significant role in determining operators capable of sustainable growth across Nigeria’s diverse regulatory environment.

The South-East region, with Enugu emerging as a regulatory hub, is also gaining attention as a potential centre for the convergence of gaming and fintech innovation. Recent policy reforms are creating opportunities for local developers to build payment gateways, backend infrastructure, and regulatory technology tailored to Nigeria’s gaming market.

For regulators, experts say fintech integration offers improved oversight through real-time transaction monitoring, automated reporting systems, and digital audit trails capable of reducing revenue leakages within the industry.

Chief Executive Officer of the Enugu State Gaming and Lotteries Commission, Prince Arinze Arum, described the conference as a strategic platform for stakeholders seeking opportunities within the Nigerian market.

He said: “For operators and technology companies seeking expansion into Nigeria, especially the South-East region, EGC 2026 provides direct access to regulators, local partners, and valuable market intelligence necessary for effective participation in the ecosystem.”

Beyond operational efficiency, fintech is also expected to deepen financial inclusion in the gaming industry through mobile money services, digital wallets, and alternative credit systems capable of reaching previously underserved users.

As international investors increasingly focus on Africa’s digital economy, EGC 2026 is positioning Nigeria as not only a major consumer market but also a growing hub for gaming and fintech innovation. Analysts say the convergence of both industries could strengthen Nigeria’s role in Africa’s next phase of digital and economic growth.
