Argentina’s kit request just days before facing England in the World Cup Semi Final has been approved.
England and Argentina meet at Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday with a place in the World Cup final at stake. Each side will try to find every advantage they can take ahead of the game and the South American side made on specific request before kickoff.
The three-time world champions requested to wear their navy blue change colours for the meeting instead of their famous their traditional light blue and white stripes.
Interestingly, Argentina lost to England while wearing their light blue and white stripes in both 1966 and 2002 but beat England when wearing navy blue in 1986 and 1998, as the side try and get any leg up against the Three Lions.
FIFA’s official Match Colour Designation release confirms that Argentina have been given the green light to wear their second strip, with the accompanying white shorts and red socks.
Argentina will be happy with the change as their federation may believe they will be handed a historical boost against England which may build up confidence amongst the side ahead of kick off.
England have worn their red change strip on just one occasion this tournament, during the group stage victory over Panama and are set to wear their home shirt against Argentina on Wednesday night.
