Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have foiled a massive cattle rustling operation and recovered over 500 cattle in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Media Information Officer of the JTF, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said the operation was carried out by troops of Sector 1, Operation Fansan Yamma on Monday, September 8.
According to the Danja, the troops responded to a distress call from locals on cattle rustling activity at Rugar Mande Kurmin.
“Responding to the distress call, troops swiftly mobilised to the suspected withdrawal routes of the terrorists and formed blocking positions,” Danja stated.
He added that the troops engaged the terrorists from multiple positions, forcing them to “withdraw in disarray and abandon all the rustled cattle.”
All the recovered cattle were subsequently handed over to their respective owners.
Danja said the successful operation “further buttresses the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to secure lives and property of the citizenry while disrupting criminal activities and denying criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.”
He urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with relevant information to enable the Theatre eradicate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
