The Federal Government has appealed to Nigerian youths to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, describing their engagement as vital to deepening democracy and enhancing governance.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, made the call during a courtesy visit from a delegation of President’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Honour Award recipients of Benue extraction, led by Simeon Aer.
In a statement by Director, Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, highlighting the administration’s commitment to youth welfare, Akume said: “The Tinubu-led government prioritises empowering youths and creating enabling environments to harness their potential for national development.”
He urged them to “register and vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to foster inclusivity and sustainable progress.”
Congratulating the awardees for their exemplary service during their NYSC tenure, the SGF encouraged them to “pursue your dreams relentlessly. You have what it takes to rise beyond where I am today.”

He also promised “automatic employment opportunities” to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
Aer, leader of the delegation, explained that the visit aimed to “present to the SGF the awards we received in recognition of our selfless service during NYSC.” He introduced Akase Patience Nguwasen, the Female Overall Best NYSC member (2020-2023).
Expressing gratitude, Nguwasen thanked President Tinubu for the honour and urged corps members to “put passion for national service above monetary gains” to leave lasting impacts after their service. “Serving the nation selflessly is the true measure of success,” she said.
These awardees were among 200 recipients honoured by President Tinubu for outstanding contributions to the nation during their NYSC from 2020 to 2023.
