FG opens cybercrime case against influencer Justice Crack

Court remands blogger Justice Crack in DSS custody over cybercrime charges

By Lawrence Agbo

The Federal Government has commenced prosecution against social media influencer, Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” over alleged cybercrime offences and felony-related charges before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice Crack was arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on an amended three-count charge filed by the prosecution.

The influencer pleaded not guilty to all the charges when they were read in court.

Following the plea, the prosecution opened its case by presenting its first witness, Oronto Douglas, who gave evidence before the court.

Douglas told the court that audio and video recordings from the defendant’s interview had been transferred to a flash drive and tendered alongside a certificate of compliance.

Counsel to the defendant asked the court to allow the bail conditions earlier granted to remain in force pending the continuation of trial.

The prosecution did not oppose the application, after which Justice Abdulmalik upheld the existing bail terms.

The court subsequently adjourned the matter until September 28 to allow the prosecution secure approval from the court’s IT department for the viewing of the forensic evidence during further proceedings.
