FG licences Nestle firm for commercial water extraction

The Federal Government has presented a certificate licensing Nestle Water Factory permission to extract water for commercial purposes.

Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, while presenting the certificate, urged the firm not to flout the terms and conditions, adding that government would not condone violation of set regulations.

He said: I enjoin you to use your licences for the purpose for which they were granted, as stipulated in the license terms and conditions. Violation will not be tolerated.

“You are to utilise the licensing period to develop, operate and maintain your various projects in a sustainable manner.

“We welcome you onboard as key stakeholders in the development of the water resources sector in Nigeria, even as we look forward to more years of fruitful partnership.”

Meanwhile, Executive Director, Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC), Reuben Habu, disclosed that so far, the Commission had issued over 21 licences for both water and hydro Power use.

Habu, reiterated that the commission would clamp down on those who illegally extract water, especially for commercial purposes.

On his part, Manager, Nestle Waters, Ayodele Ayeokere, promised to abide by the guidelines to avoid sanction.
