Umar BabaYaro, the preferred candidate of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has emerged Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), 5th Republic, following a decisive victory in the national election.
BabaYaro’s emergence followed a keenly contested election in which he defeated his opponent by a wide margin, in a victory credited to the Director-General of his campaign council, Hon. Mustapha Obaje.
In a statement after the announcement of the results, Obaje thanked delegates drawn from the 36 states of the federation for their participation and support, describing the outcome as a reflection of the collective resolve of Nigerian youths.
“We are immensely grateful to our delegates from every corner of the country who stood firm to deliver this victory,” Obaje said.

He urged Nigerian youths to close ranks behind the incoming administration, while calling on delegates and youth leaders nationwide to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.
According to him, supporting the two leaders would be a fitting way of reciprocating their contributions and support towards BabaYaro’s emergence.
The victory ushers in the 5th Republic administration of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, with expectations of renewed focus on youth empowerment, national unity and constructive engagement with government at all levels.
