The Federal Government has lauded Borno’s investment in education, describing the intervention as human development to secure the future of the state

Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa, gave the commendation yesterday in Maiduguri during a visit to Governor Babagana Zulum.

“This is human capacity development. I have seen some of the schools built by the state government. These schools were carefully built and the structure of primary and secondary schools I saw are better than some of the buildings in newly approved and established tertiary institutions in the country,” the minister declared.

He said Borno’s investment was a social commitment to tackle insecurity, promote peace and secure a better future for the people of the state. He described Borno as a model for other states in the country.

“I am impressed by the quality of primary and secondary schools in Borno State. When you build the education, capacity of the people, you build their security, peace and future,” he stated.

He assured that the Federal Government would continue to partner with the state to improve education and infrastructure.

Gov Zulum in his response, said the state government prioritises teachers’ capacity. He said the government places emphasis on training and re-training of teachers to improve the quality of education.

He disclosed that the government equally introduced rural posting allowance to boost the morale of teachers in rural areas.

He thanked the president for the approval of the University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship at Bama, Borno’s Central town.

The minister was in Maiduguri to attend the 28th quarterly meeting of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and commissioning of two new schools built by the Borno State Government.
