Federal Government has declared Monday public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 57th Independence Anniversary.
The release signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Engr Abubakar G. Magaji, said the Minister, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (red), made the declaration on behalf of the federal government.
The statement further noted that the minister congratulated Nigerians on the anniversary and urged them to sustain the collective efforts towards maintaining and strengthening the unity of the country.
“Gen. Dambazau emphasised government’s commitment to promoting national unity, economic growth and political development on democratic principles,” the statement read.
The minister further noted that in the past 57 years, Nigeria had made lots of progresses and positive impacts not only on her citizens, but, also, on human development globally.
He enjoined Nigerians to remain steadfast in the love and care of the country and said a strong sense of ownership of one’s country is vital to the sustainable development of any nation.
