Abuja’s acting Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) chairman, Michael Ango, has appealed to residents to honour their tax obligations, stressing that this is vital for maintaining the city’s top-tier infrastructure and services.
Speaking to journalists after the first Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Executive Council meeting of 2026 — chaired by the minister, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday — Ango highlighted the minister’s unwavering dedication to a premium living standard for residents.
He, however, warned that this vision is hinged on robust internal revenue generation to fund and sustain cutting-edge projects and social amenities.
He appealed to residents to promptly settle taxes, fees, levies, ground rents and other FCTA obligations, underscoring voluntary compliance as everyone’s duty to the capital’s growth.

“I’m sure we can all see what this revenue is being used for,” Ango stated, pointing to ongoing developmental projects across the capital.
“So just to reiterate, the Director of Land has said: where you are in default, the FCTA will have no option but to enforce our right to the revenue that is due to all of us as Abuja residents.”
He wrapped up by urging defaulters to seize the moment: “We hope and pray that those who are in default will take this as an opportunity to comply and continue to comply and support the administration, so that we can all have a world-class capital city that we can all be proud of, in line with the vision of the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu.”
