Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), yesterday, began its 2026 promotion evaluation and interview exercise for officers on Salary Grade Levels 14, 15 and 16 across the federal civil service.

This was contained in a statement by the Head of Press and Public Relations for the Commission, Ibraheem Zakariyya.

In a circular by the FCSC chairman, Tunji Olaopa on June 22, the commission instructed all ministries, extra‑ministerial departments and agencies (MDAs) to submit promotion briefs for officers who have reached the required maturity period on their current grades and meet the conditions for promotion.

“The 2026 Directorate Level Promotion Examination will be conducted through a Computer‑Based Test (CBT),” the commission said, urging candidates to familiarise themselves with the new format. “This measure is intended to deepen transparency, credibility and merit in the promotion process.”

The FCSC warned that only candidates duly authenticated and presented through appropriate MDA channels would be accredited for the exercise. “Incomplete, false, inaccurate or late submissions, and non‑compliance with the stipulated guidelines, will lead to disqualification,” the commission said.

The commission said the evaluation would concentrate on applicants’ knowledge of the civil service, professional competence and awareness of government policies, regulations and administrative procedures. Officials were advised to study relevant public service documents, regulations and other prescribed reference materials ahead of the exercise.

It also urged permanent secretaries and accounting officers to circulate the circular widely, including to staff serving outside the headquarters and to Nigerian missions abroad, to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines and deadlines.
