… It’s not true – Police

From Tony John, Port Harcourt

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, claimed he was placed under house arrest by security operatives at the old Presidential Lodge, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Media, Lere Olayinka, stated this yesterday, saying that all entreaties to allow Fayose leave his apartment to attend the convention were rebuffed by the security operatives positioned at the house.
The gate to the old Presidential Lodge, it was gathered, was blocked by an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), which prevented Governor Fayose from moving out of the place to attend the botched Peoples democratic Party (PDP) convention.
But the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Francis Odesanya, debunked Fayose’s claim, wondering how his case could be exceptional, when other governors left their apartments without any inhibition.
“That can’t be true.  It’s not to my knowledge. How did other excellencies (governors) go out of their lodges?”  Odesanya asked.
