The remains of the late Ezinne Keziah Amurunwanyi Njoku (nee Ukasoanya) will be committed to mother Earth on Friday, January 3, 2025, at her late husband’s compound in Emedike, Umuchoko, Chokoneze in Ezinihitte Local Government Area, Imo State.

Ezinne Njoku passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 during a brief illness, at the age of 85 years.

According to a release signed by her eldest son, Mr. Bennett Ezenwa Njoku, her body will depart from St. Maxwell Mortuary Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise L.G.A at 8am, on Friday, January 3, 2025 to her husband’s compound for lying-in-state in the family house, ‘All Saints’ Lodge’, from 9am till 10am when a funeral service will hold in her honour at the family compound. Interment follows immediately after the funeral service while entertainment of guests will follow at the same venue.

There will be a family outing service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Chokoneze, on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

Her dedication and commitment to God’s work and humanity earned her the revered title of Ezinne (Virtuous Mother), courtesy of the Anglican church in her community. Her leadership role, which spanned over five decades, started in Lagos where she was the chair lady of Chokoneze Women’s Development Union for many years.

Her motherly and friendly disposition endeared her to many, especially in her community where she was popularly known as Nwanneanyi, which means “our sister”.

She is survived by children among whom is Daily Sun’s Senior Deputy News Editor, Emma Njoku, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, friends and well wishers.
