US-based music promoter and CEO of KD Record, Kristen Dawodu has hinted on some of the big lessons he learned about owning and running a Nigeria-based business.

According to the serial entrepreneur, “If you don’t have more-than-enough-capital for business in Nigeria, don’t start it, because if you do, you will end up quitting or closing shop sooner,¨ he said. “Most people in Nigeria buy on credit, so you need enough capital to stay afloat otherwise you get grounded.”

The KD record boss avowed that life has taught him some big lessons. “Don’t underestimate anyone. Don’t look down on people because you don’t know the future,” he enumerated, saying further, “life is a teacher, the more you live, the more you learn.”

Kristen Dawodu, who studied Business Administration at Tai Solarin University, further disclosed his motivation for going into different businesses instead of concentrating on one type of business. “I’m a businessman. Lots of businesses mean lots of money,” he said jokingly.

Of his philosophy of life, the record label boss whose real name is Oluwagbenga Oluwafemi Dawodu, waxed lyrical: “It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.”

Twenty-five-year-old, Ijebu ode-born Dawodu considered 2020, a year many considered as lost to Covid-19, as one with mixed blessing for his showbiz business.

He said: “I signed two artistes unto KD Record in 2020. Yes, I had a few money losses, but that’s business. At the same time, I made a few from my artiste. It was one hell of a year.”

He urged fans to expect big surprises from KD Record Label in 2021. “Lots of Banger coming this year,” he enthused. “so stay tuned.”
