The organisers of the Abuja International Motor Fair have explained that partnering with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) on this year’s Silver Jubilee edition would enable Nigerians to see the gains of the recent efforts by the industry’s apex body to develop the sector.

The Organising Committee spoke at a recent interaction with the motoring press, where it was announced that  the special 25th anniversary edition would  be driven by the NADDC “under the dynamic stewardship of its Director General, Mr. Joseph Osanipin.”

The NADDC is expected to showcase the achievements of the auto-related  initiatives of the government of President Bola Tinubu and the efforts by the Council to revamp the auto industry.

They are expected to include a wide range of vehicles produced by the various auto plants in Nigeria.

The annual international motor show, which features local and foreign exhibitors, would for the first time in nine years return to its  traditional venue – the Eagle Square, Abuja – from November 18 to 21, 2025.

Giving more insight into this year’s fair, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu, disclosed that aside from the NADDC driving the event, the 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) would be participating too.

More international exhibitors are also being wooed by the organisers to match the envisaged increase in participation by companies from the local auto sector – bearing in mind the possibility of partnerships between the foreigners and the players in the domestic industry.

Agwu explained that bringing the fair back to the popular Eagle Square, a venue where events of national significance are usually held, underscores the importance of the involvement of the NADDC as well as reflects  the foresight and bold leadership of its Director General.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing the current DG to head the Council, lauding his unmatched ability to identify and appoint competent hands to hold important positions.

He observed that President Tinubu’s decision to entrust NADDC’s management to Osanipin, has begun to yield transformative results.

Meanwhile the organisers have hinted that efforts are being made to ensure that the governments of the 36 states and the FCTA participate in the fair to showcase their investment climate, transportation masterplans, and industrial potential to the world.

In a press statement made available to The Sun on the participation of the states, read in part, ““Pavilions have been reserved for each governor and the FCTA, to position their state as the next big frontier in automobile assembly, parts manufacturing, transport technology, and job-creating logistics infrastructure. It is an ample opportunity open for them to latch on to.

“This is not just another event. It is a strategic national platform. Any governor that misses this will be missing out on international investors, major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), financial partners, and infrastructure developers who are coming specifically to explore State-level opportunities.”

With the support of the NADDC, expectations are high that the 25th Abuja International Motor Fair would be a grand showcase of Nigeria’s automotive ecosystem – featuring exhibitions from government initiatives to private sector innovations.

The fair is expected to bring together stakeholders from across the globe to witness how Nigeria is charting a new course in automotive development, while offering unparalleled opportunities for partnerships, investments, and policy engagement.

Since its inception, the Abuja International Motor Fair has stood as West Africa’s most prestigious automotive platform, consistently attracting global and local auto brands, investors, policymakers, and innovators.
