The Forum of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to the Chairman of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State has commended the council boss, Chijioke Joseph Ezugwu, for what it described as his commitment to good governance, youth development, and grassroots transformation.
The forum gave the commendation in a statement issued following Ezugwu’s recognition as Grassroots Development Icon of the Year at the Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards 2026.
According to the group, the honour underscores the chairman’s performance in office and reflects growing public recognition of his leadership style, which it said is anchored on inclusiveness, accountability, and service delivery.
The SSAs noted that within a relatively short time in office, the chairman has recorded measurable achievements in infrastructure development, improved security, and human capital advancement across the council area. They highlighted key projects executed under his administration to include the remodelling of the local government secretariat and chairman’s lodge, as well as the construction of a new administrative complex named after Enugu State Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
The forum also pointed to ongoing efforts to improve access to potable water through the provision of modern boreholes across the 16 Smart Schools and communities such as Uvuru, Amidi, Amaebo, Nimbo, and Opanda.
In the area of infrastructure, the group cited the construction of rural road networks, including a three-kilometre asphalted road linking several communities, as part of initiatives aimed at boosting economic activities and easing transportation challenges.
On youth development, the SSAs commended Ezugwu for creating opportunities through strategic appointments and empowerment programmes designed to enhance livelihoods and encourage inclusive participation in governance.
“This recognition is a testament to the chairman’s giant strides in less than two years in office and a validation of his people-oriented policies,” the statement read.
The forum reaffirmed its support for the chairman’s administration and urged him to sustain the momentum in delivering democratic dividends to the people of Uzo-Uwani.
