The Katsina State Police Command has said the state government-imposed curfew remains in force and promised to arrest anyone caught protesting in the state as the #EndBadGovernance protest enters day five.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq said this in a statement issued on Monday.

On Friday, Acting Katsina governor, Faruq Jobe announced a 24-hour curfew in Dutsinma LGA and banned unusual gatherings and all types of protests across the state.

On Monday, the police command in the state reiterated that the Katsina State Government’s ban on all forms of protest, unlawful assembly, and curfew throughout the state is still in effect.

“Twenty-four hours (24 hrs) curfew in Dutsinma LGA and twelve hours (12 hrs) from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. in the rest of the 33 LGAs of the state.

“This measure is aimed at preventing further escalation of violence, vandalism, and looting of private and public property and at maintaining public safety and security.

“The Command remains committed to enforcing this ban while ensuring that peace and order are restored in the state.

“We call on the good people of Katsina State to continue to cooperate with the command as well as other security agencies in this effort. Your understanding and compliance are crucial to maintaining the safety and security of the state,” the statement reads in part.

The police called on parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against engaging in acts that were against the law, and to encourage them to remain law-abiding citizens.

“We encourage everyone to remain calm and go about their lawful activities within the confines of the law, as we will not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone who violates this ban.

“Let us work together to ensure peace and stability in Katsina State,” the police said.
