Patriarch of the Ekiyoyo family in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Otunba Daniel Afolabi Ekiyoyo, is dead.
He died on August 2, 2025 at 89.
His daughter, UK-based lawyer, Nike Otubusen (nee Ekiyoyo), said the deceased was a devout Christian who wore many hats in his lifetime. He was, at different times, co-founder, Ikorodu Community Bank, Asiwaju of Odo-Nla, Olootu Omo-Oba (Meta), and former chairman Ikorodu Oga Development Association and Bobajiro of Ikoroduland. “Our father was a pillar of community, wisdom and humility. He was also a mentor and father to many in the community,”
A service of songs in his memory will be held at East London Tabernacle Church, Bow, London, while he will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Odo-Nla, Ikorodu on Friday, October 10.
