The Federal High Court sitting in Ado- Ekiti has adjourned till December 8 for further hearing on the suit instituted against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede.
Oluyede emerged PDP’s candidate at the governorship primary election
conducted on November 8, 2025 by the Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo-led electoral committee and in the presence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and newsmen, after polling 279 votes, defeating his closest rival, Funso Ayeni, who scored 239 votes, and Funmi Ogun who got 17 votes.
Dissatisfied with the outcome, Ayeni approached the court to challenge Oluyede’s victory in the primary election. He requested the court to restrain Oluyede from parading himself as the elected flag bearer of the party but the court didn’t grant his request for being premature.
The suit number FHC/AD/CS/29/2025 is between Dr Funso Ayeni VS Peoples Democratic Party and six others.
During the hearing presided over by Justice Babs Kuewumi on Thursday, Kola Kolade(SAN) led other lawyers to represent Ayeni while Ola Olanipekun (SAN) and Barr Owoseni Ajayi represented Oluyede.
The State Legal Adviser of the party, Barr Ola Alonge held brief for the first respondent, the PDP.
