Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Muslim faithful to incorporate the spiritual lessons of love, peace, and justice from Ramadan into their everyday lives to promote national harmony, peace, and progress.

Oborevwori said it was important to remind Nigerians of the imperative for mutual respect for all faiths and customs and the necessity to continue to live together in peace according to the country’s religious and cultural beliefs.

He said: “Regardless of ethnicity or faith, as we celebrate in Nigeria, may the teachings and blessings of the Holy Month permeate all national endeavours, favourably impact our attitudes towards one another, and encourage a stronger dedication to the peace, unity and stability of the country.”

On his part, Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, urged Muslims to exhibit the true spirit of peace and love in their daily dealings with men of all faiths, saying Islam, as a religion of peace, frowns on violence in whatever guise.

In his Eid-el-Fitri message released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, Governor Otu enjoined Muslims to inculcate the lessons learnt during the Ramadan fast to bring about positive impacts on their neighbours and the larger society.

“Having abided strictly by the injunctions of Almighty Allah by self-denial through fasting and prayers and by offering Zakat to the less-privileged, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters not to forget the lessons learnt from the spirit of piety, act of alms-giving, as well as compassion and love for mankind.

“As you celebrate, may I enjoin the faithful to continue to make supplications to Allah to heal our land of all ills and to favour us with peace and progress.

“For us in Cross River, we remain grateful to Almighty Allah for the peace, unity and stability in the state. I pray the peace of Allah continues to reign over us and the Muslim community in Nigeria and in our dear state, Cross River. I wish the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Fitri,” Otu said.

In his goodwill message, Governor Hyacinth Alia, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, advised Muslims to uphold the lessons of kindness, forgiveness and sacrifice which the month of Ramadan stood for.

He also prayed for peace and development to thrive in Benue.

Alia identified insecurity and unstable economy as major challenges standing against speedy development of Benue and Nigeria, and called on Muslims to always remember to pray for the State.

Meanwhile, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has rallied the people of Gombe State towards collective prayer, unity and resilience amidst prevailing economic challenges, assuring that the current difficulties are transient and that better days lie ahead.

Speaking during the closing of Ramadan Tafsir at the Government House Mosque earlier today. The session was led by the Mosque’s chief Imam, Sheikh Zakariyya Ajiya.

Governor Inuwa urged the faithful to remain steadfast in their devotion and to channel their energies towards productive ventures, particularly as the wet season approaches.

While emphasising the importance of agriculture in fostering economic growth and food security, the Governor encouraged citizens to seize opportunities in farming.

He expressed confidence in the resilience of the people.

The governor commended both the presiding cleric, Sheikh Ajiya and the congregants for their commitment to spiritual enrichment and cohesion of the Ummah.

He also used the occasion to acknowledge the generosity of affluent individuals in the society who have demonstrated empathy by extending support to the less privileged, emphasizing the importance of compassion and solidarity, particularly during times of hardship.

He noted that such gesture resonates with the essence of Ramadan, which encourages giving back and caring for those in need.
