•What Jesus, Mary told me in my dream
By Vivian Onyebukwa
For weeks, the story of a 42-year-old Egyptian, Ahmed El-Husseini, who claimed to have discovered a special stone that has the image of the Virgin Mary, has dominated news media around the world.
The Egyptian ttold the story of his strange encounter with the mysterious stone. The Egyptian is an accountant and resident of El Salam City in Cairo. He asserted that the strange stone has been examined by experts in Geology at a German University specialising in Geosciences, although the examination was not official, for the sake of credibility.
However, another German Professor, he noted, informed him that the stone is worth millions of dollars. The stone dimension measures 27.57 mm in height, width: 17.64 mm, depth: 12.45 mm and weight: 5.3 grams.
Explaining how he found the special stone, El-Husseini said the process began when he had a dream at the age of 14 years. “There was a big crowd. It looked like they were waiting for someone. They were happy in the dream. My little brother was also with me, but those people left after dark. I had certainty in the dream that these people were waiting for the Virgin Mary. Yes, I felt it. Then I saw someone tapping my right shoulder, so I turned around to see who it was. It was the Virgin Mary who was smiling. Then she put something in my hand like a stone and said, “It is yours, Ahmed, it is yours”. Light was radiating around her. I have never seen such light before. There were angels around. The moon had a beautiful light, not as we see it in our lives.”
Two years after the dream, he said he experienced a physical encounter with the precious stone while walking on a road in Cairo with his brother. “It was August 1996. That day we took a different route to get home quickly. My brother and I were running. Suddenly my feet stumbled and fell on the sandy ground. I picked up a stone automatically from the ground and looked at it. I saw a bright light from the stone. Then I looked at the stone and I saw a woman who looked pregnant. I saw a woman’s face in the stone. There were eyebrows, eyes, and nose. I swear I quickly recognised her. She is the Virgin Mary and I put the stone in my pocket. Then my little brother and I went home, but my mother scolded us for being late. Then I put the stone on the table and my mother saw the stone and looked at it and said that it was the Virgin Mary, and that Christ was in her womb. There was also a tree trunk in the stone. There were many details in the stone, and everyone who saw the stone said that it was the Virgin Mary.”
This discovery has generated a widespread fascination and devotion in the city of El Salam that, it has even become a Mecca of sort as people from various backgrounds come to witness the stone’s extraordinary image.
Beyond his story, Saturday Sun went further to interact with Ahmed El-Husseini, trying to know what he intends to do with the stone beyond just people gathering to view it.
“I want to obtain the Nobel Peace Prize through it. I will use it to spread peace on the continent of Africa first”.
Explaining how he intends to do that, he saw it as a difficult task but very optimistic that he will succeed by publishing proposals for coexistence and solutions to border disputes between African countries applicable. “The stone is a message of peace from Africa to the whole world”, he added. Even though he would like to win a Noble Prize with the stone estimated at millions of dollars, El-Husseini hinted that he would rather prefer to sell it to make more money than the award. “If there is a buyer for the stone who appreciates its value, I will sell it. I will use part of the money for charity”, he added.
El-Husseini is a devoted Muslim, so why all the fuss about Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ believed by Christians as the Lord and saviour? El-Husseini said even though he is of the Islamic faith, he totally believes in the Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ and miracles. Before he had the encounter with Virgin Mary, he maintained that the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ have great importance in the Islamic religion. Even though he would like to remain a Muslim, he said he believes in coexistence and brotherhood between Muslims and Christians, even if there are differences between them.
Describing his encounter with the precious stone, he said: “I was very surprised and very happy. I was in a state of amazement,”
El-Husseini is a Muslim, but he seems to share some traits and talents with the Biblical “Joseph the dreamer.”
According to him, he has been dreaming even before he picked the stone with Virgin Mary inscription.
He told Saturday Sun of how he saw Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary in a dream few months ago and what they told him. “I saw Jesus Christ and he was smiling a lot and he was very, very beautiful in the dream. They gave me a message to the world. The Virgin Mary was sad because of the wars in the world. She said in the dream that they should stop. She was crying and told me, “You have to try’.
On how he intends to spread the news to the world, El-Husseini implored the media saying, “This is the mission of the press and the media in the world. They must help me with this”.
With his various encounters with Jesus and Virgin Mary, El-Husseini must be said to be very religious. He expressed gratitude to God and revealed how he has been able to achieve his closeness to God. In his own words, it is by staying away from sins and getting closer to God.
On his message to the world concerning Virgin Mary, El-Husseini said” Stop the wars and hatred that have spread in the world like locusts. We are human beings. Even if there is a difference between us in religion, colour and gender, we are all brothers on earth.”
El-Husseini, who is still single and without any child said, “I don’t have children, but I love children very much.”
