Organisers of Egbaliganza have unveiled plans for the 2026 edition of the cultural platform, positioning it as Africa’s first Culture and Fashion Exchange.

The announcement was made at a press conference in Abeokuta, Ogun State, ahead of the event scheduled for March 28, 2026, as part of the Lisabi Festival.

Convener of Egbaliganza and founder of the Lai Labode Heritage Foundation, Aare (Dr.) Lai Labode, said the initiative, inspired by Egba heritage and the legacy of Lisabi Agbongboakala, has grown into a continental platform aimed at promoting culture, creativity, and economic development.

According to him, the 2026 edition will host participants from over 50 countries, including governments, cultural institutions, designers, and investors, in a multi-day programme showcasing African heritage and fashion.

Key highlights include a parade of nations, fashion showcases featuring indigenous textiles, cultural exhibitions, and a gala night to mark the Lisabi Festival. The event will also feature the unveiling of a symbolic unity drum and performances by an 80-man orchestra.

Labode noted that previous editions boosted tourism and local enterprise in Abeokuta, adding that this year’s event is expected to attract increased diaspora investment and further elevate Africa’s creative economy.

He also confirmed that the Lisabi Festival has secured official recognition from the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy.

Egbaliganza 2026 is expected to draw global attention to Abeokuta as a major hub for African culture and fashion.
