The Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Lukman Adeleye has taken a significant step towards improving the state’s education system by advancing a bill to establish the office of Principal-General.

The bill, which scaled through its second reading, aims to provide a legal framework for the appointment of four Principal-Generals in the state.

According to Adeleye, “there is the need for a legal framework to support the existing Executive Order establishing the Office of Principal-Generals in the State.

“This would enhance the quality of teaching and learning in various citadels of learning at the secondary school level”, the lawmaker added

Discussing the bill numbered as H.B No. 016/OG/2024, on the floor of the House, other lawmakers praised Adeleye for sponsoring the bill.

They concurred that when the bills passed and signed into law, it has potential to boost teachers’ morale and career progression.

The lawmakers, including Yusuf Amosun, Babatunde Tella, Adebisi Oyedele, and Oluseun Adesanya, equally acknowledged the potential of the bill to improve education administration and reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks.

The Speaker of the House, Oludaisi Elemide, committed the bill to the House Committee on Education, Science and Technology for further review.
