Edo State has secured a strategic partnership with United States-based investors to establish an electric mobility manufacturing and assembly plant for electric tricycles, a major investment expected to boost industrialisation, create jobs and accelerate the state’s transition to clean transportation.
The project, which is being executed through a collaboration involving MOSERI Holding Limited, JBV Manufacturing and a tricycle manufacturing company, is expected to strengthen local manufacturing capacity while advancing sustainable mobility initiatives.
Commissioner for Power, Hon. Paul Usenbo, announced the partnership, describing it as a significant milestone in the state’s drive to attract foreign investment, stimulate economic growth and position Edo as a hub for green industrial development.
According to Usenbo, the partnership will establish an e-mobility company in Edo State to manufacture and assemble electric tricycles for the Nigerian market, positioning the state as a hub for clean energy technology, innovation and vehicle production.
He said the initiative aligns with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s economic agenda of attracting strategic investments, expanding industrial capacity and creating sustainable employment opportunities through renewable energy and technology-driven manufacturing.

Usenbo explained that local production of electric tricycles would reduce dependence on imports, strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and promote the development of a robust electric vehicle value chain in Nigeria.
He added that the project would make electric tricycles more affordable by lowering production and logistics costs, while generating direct and indirect employment opportunities in assembly, maintenance, technical support, spare parts distribution and after-sales services.
“The advantage of this initiative is that electric tricycles will become more affordable for our people. More importantly, Edo residents will benefit from employment in assembly, maintenance, after-sales services and warranty support, creating a sustainable value chain for the state’s economy,” Usenbo said.
The commissioner noted that the investment forms part of broader reforms being implemented by the Ministry of Power to attract private sector participation into the energy sector, diversify the state’s economy and promote environmentally sustainable transportation solutions.
He further disclosed that the state government has continued to engage international investors across the power and renewable energy value chain, describing the e-mobility project as one of several strategic initiatives designed to position Edo as a preferred destination for technology-driven manufacturing, innovation and sustainable development.
Usenbo expressed confidence that the investment would deepen local industrial capacity, facilitate technology transfer, strengthen workforce skills, stimulate economic growth and reinforce Edo State’s emergence as one of Nigeria’s leading destinations for clean energy and electric mobility investments.
