The Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Mr Osaigbovo Iyoha, has commended the Chief Executive Officer of Surprise Pub and Cafe, Chief Matthew Evbakor Oshodin, for assisting the state government in tackling youth restiveness. He urged young people to look inward and reawaken their creative ingenuity to help the government address rising unemployment rates in the country.

He made the call while presenting a document of ownership for a plot of land to the winner of the Clash of the Titans Season 4 stage competition, organised by Chief Oshodin in Benin.

Mr Osaigbovo said the people of the state are endowed with enormous untapped talents that should be harnessed for the overall benefit of the state and, by extension, the country.

Osaigbovo said some Edo State-born artists are currently making the state proud both globally and locally, and that more can be discovered through events like the one organised by Surprise Pub and Cafe.

He said Nigerians must come to terms with the fact that so-called white-collar jobs are not readily available. He added that the crude oil the country is relying on will soon be a thing of the past because the rest of the world is now talking about renewable energy.

He said one way forward for young people is to look inward and develop their God-given talents, adding that this alone can make them self-sufficient.

He commended Chief Oshodin for always bridging the unemployment gap and creating wealth in the state.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Surprise Pub and Cafe, Chief Matthew Evbakor Oshodin, said that giving a parcel of land to the competition winner will inspire other artists in the state to be more dedicated and professional in their careers, whether as musicians or actors.

Chief Oshodin reiterated that many talents are inherent in the youth of the state that have not been discovered. He stressed that the Nosa Obaseki and Friends concert, featuring the Canada-based Nollywood actor, coming up on the 26th of July, would be an avenue to discover more talented artists in the state, which will, in turn, create opportunities for younger ones to be groomed to stardom.

Speaking also, one of the show’s sponsors, Mrs Rukevwe Ekhaese, the Chief Executive Officer of Kawruky Hotel, commended Chief Oshodin for always having the artists at heart and promoting the hospitality business in the state, which is one of the largest employers of labour.
