A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Lawrence Orkah, has said the candidate of the party, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has a better programme for the poor than Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I know these two people very well and I know their capabilities. I was in the PDP with Ize-Iyamu for years; in fact some of us knew when he started his political life through Lucky and the truth is that like many politicians in the PDP, he plays selfish politics. He always thinks about himself and not the poor because he is a core politician.
“And when you look at their programmes and how Obaseki has been campaigning, you will find out that because he is coming from the private sector, he is always sincere in most promises he has made. “He thinks more about the poor masses rather than the rich. His experience in the private sector and his seven and half years in the state as Chairman of the Economic Team of the state gives him a better chance to win.
“I don’t want to consider what Oshiomhole and APC have done in Edo already, because when you add that one, you will even wonder where PDP will get the votes from. I am just trying to compare the two of them, that is in the event that Ize-Iyamu gets the ticket of the PDP because there is still so much uncertainty due to the faction in their party, ” he said.
