Edo election: Esan group in US champions open communication, trust-building, effective conflict resolution as pillars of successful leadership

Esan World Congress (EWC), representing the Esan people in the diaspora, has championed open communication, trust-building, and effective conflict resolution as pillars of successful leadership ahead of the Edo elections in September this year.

This was contained in a statement issued after the inauguration of its first Leadership Summit held on Saturday, April 13th, 2024.

The summit themed “Get it Right” underscored the importance of selecting the right leadership for Edo State’s advancement.

The summit aimed to equip leaders with essential skills ahead of Edo State’s forthcoming governorship elections slated for September 21st, 2024.

The summit led by the National President, Dr. Eromosele Idahosa, and the National Secretary-General, Dr. Osezua Ehiyamen, which aimed to empower Esan leaders to address challenges adeptly and contribute to the development of Esanland, also emphasised active listening, consensus-seeking, and collaboration.

The summit also emphasised the paramount importance of selecting the right leadership for Edo State’s advancement.

Established in 2007, the EWC serves as a unifying force for Esan associations in North America, committed to preserving cultural heritage and fostering developmental initiatives in Esanland.

Speakers of repute delivered insightful presentations on critical topics, including “Balancing Loyalty With Ethical Leadership” by Prof. Matthew Izibili, “Dealing With Conflict: Best Practices” by Matthew Ibadin, and “Can Communication Make the Difference in Leaders?” by Dr. Celey Okogun.

“These presentations highlighted the importance of integrity, fairness, accountability, effective conflict resolution, and transparent communication in successful leadership”, the statement read.

Idahosa announced plans for future editions of the summit and the upcoming EWC National Convention scheduled for July 26-28th, 2024, in Houston, Texas, emphasizing the significance of the presented papers and the anticipated publication of summit proceedings.
