ECWA flays Kurmin Wali Attack, calls for urgent action on insecurity

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has condemned the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, particularly the attack on worshippers in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru, Kaduna State, on January 18, 2026.

The Church expressed “profound alarm and deep concern” over the abduction of worshippers and called for decisive actions by the government.

ECWA President, Rev. Job Ayuba Bagat made this call in a statement signed by himself and made available to Newsmen on Thursday in Jos, Plateau State.

“This incident is not isolated, prior to this attack, approximately one hundred ECWA members were already held captive by kidnappers, with families facing exorbitant ransom demands.”

He called on the federal government to strengthen intelligence gathering and early-warning systems and nsure swift, effective responses to threats.

The Church reiterated that the Nigerian government must arrest and prosecute perpetrators and their sponsors swiftly and transparently to further avoid the wastage escalation of the ongoing killings.

Bagat insisted that the government must provide adequate protection for places of worship and other soft targets in the country.

The Church urged Nigerians to remain united, vigilant, and steadfast in pursuing a just and secure nation.
