The DSP Alamieyeseigha Foundation has generously donated JAMB forms to 100 Bayelsa youths hoping to gain admission into tertiary institutions in the state this year.

The event which took place on the 12th of February was held in Yenagoa under the supervision of the Executive Director of the Nonprofit organization, Seleake T Alamieyeseigha at Ayalla Hotel.

Although The Foundation is yet to be officially launched, it will be giving out scholarships based on merit to those who come out tops during the examination this year.

Mr. Seleake encouraged the beneficiaries to be committed to their studies so as to obtain full benefits of the scholarship scheme.

The DSP Alamieyeseigha Foundation aims to carry on Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha’s legacy of service and commitment to Bayelsa and the Niger Delta at large.

Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha became the first civilian governor of Bayelsa State in 1999 and spearheaded several developmental projects across the state. This includes the establishment of the Niger Delta University in Amassoma, where he also made provision to send its lecturers abroad to obtain relevant qualifications to manage the Citadel.

Alamieyeseigha ensured the construction of other notable infrastructures across Bayelsa State and worked with other Niger Delta leaders in the fight for resource control and environmental justice.

He passed away on the 10th of October 2015 but continues to be a source of inspiration for many across the state and beyond after 10 years.

The foundation established in his honor is geared towards empowering the underprivileged and promoting education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and social welfare programs that will transform the lives of the people in the Niger Delta.
