Drowned NAF cadet: Military personnel allegedly storm Abia hotel, kill 1, injure 3

Military personnel numbering about four, were reported to have stormed the Royal Damgrete Hotel, Umuahia, Abia State killed a staff and injured three others over the drowning of an NAF cadet in the hotel’s swimming pool.

It was gathered that four military officers, suspected to be Air Force personnel, invaded the hotel, took away four of her staff. The military personnel were said to have given the four staff of the hotel the beatings of their life, resulting in the slumping and death of one of the staff, James Etubi.

Etubi was reported to have been rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The other three staff of the hotel were said to have received various degrees of injury as a result of the beating.Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, said on April 12, the CPS, Umuahia received a report from the director of the hotel, narrating the incident. Chinaka said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary and undergoing autopsy as investigation begins.

The NAF Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Tarmac Four cadet, who was identified as CDT Chidiebere, was reported to have died in the hotel’s swimming pool on April 9. The victim, said to have a few months to graduate from the NDA, had gone to the hotel with friends to have fun when he decided to swim at the hotel’s swimming pool and got drowned.
