In a recent development, the Nasarawa State government has unveiled plans to construct a 5-star hotel within the premises of the esteemed Lafia Golf Club.

The announcement came during the conclusion of the Dr. Dozie’s Super Kitty event held at the Lafia Golf Club earlier this week.

Barrister Isaac Danlandi, the Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sport, highlighted the tourism potential and the envisaged boost to the state’s internally generated revenue. He stated, “The government of Engr. AA Sule places high premium on sports and sees the Lafia Golf Club as a key player in advancing this agenda.”

He further emphasized the government’s commitment to reducing crime and fostering a peaceful environment conducive to business and leisure activities. “Golf, being at the center, symbolizes our dedication to creating a safe and prosperous environment for all,” he added.

Mlanga Anyone John, the Captain of Lafia Golf Club, echoed the sentiment, expressing the club’s aspiration to elevate its facilities to international standards. “Our goal is to transform the brown course into green, making Lafia a premier destination for events like the PGA in Africa or Nigeria,” he remarked.

Dr Chidozie Valentine Adiukwu, a prominent member of the Lafia Golf Club and a medical consultant based in Saudi Arabia, commended the club’s enduring legacy and pledged continued support. “Lafia has become a second home to me, and I am committed to its growth and prosperity,” he affirmed.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from golfers across Nigeria and attracted dignitaries from various sectors. Dr Adiukwu’s unwavering dedication to the club and his vision for its future underscored the importance of community engagement and collaboration in nurturing sporting excellence.
