From Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin Kebbi

Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris has urged those behind spreading falsehood information about insecurity in Nigeria to desist from politicizing insecurity challenges in Nigeria.

Idris who stated this during the interfaith prayer session organized by the state government in Birnin Kebbi, noted that the state has been enjoying relative peace compared to many parts of the country.

According to him, “no state can claim to be 100 per cent peaceful. The issue of security should not be politicised. Those saying that Kebbi or Nigeria is not peaceful, or that there is no cordial relationship between Muslims and Christians, are only spreading falsehood.

“We are here together, Muslims and Christians, praying for divine intervention to overcome insecurity in our land,” he added.

Idris appreciated religious leaders and other participants for not only honouring the invitation but also participating actively in the event.

The governor urged them to continue to pray for peace, progress and prosperity of the state even after leaving the venue.

The prayer session, organised by the state’s Ministry for Religious Affairs, brought together clerics from the two major religions drawn from the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

In his speech, Zayyanu Sani, Chairman Prayer Committee, said the essence of gathering was to seek devine intervention on issue of security that engulfed the state and the nation at large.

He lauded some bigwigs in the state who had been contributing to a weekly prayer session, assuring that the prayer was yielding positive results.
