Resident doctors at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, OAUTH, Osun State, has withdrawn their services to patients in the hospital.
This follows a nationwide indefinite strike embarked upon by doctors to press home demands on issues related to their welfare.
Many of the patients who visited the hospital for medical attention were left unattended to, only consultant doctors and nurses were seen around the teaching hospital.
Speaking to newsmen, the President Association of Resident Doctors, Doctor Wole Ayegbusi, said the indefinite strike became a last resort for the doctors across the country following the breakdown in negotiations with government and stakeholders in the health sector.
Doctor. Ayegbusi said issues of unpaid salaries, unjustified sack and poor welfare of resident doctors in government owned hospitals were among the demands by the resident doctors.
